Haygwynell has traditionally been the breadbasket of Soln, though this role has been severely strained in the aftermath of the Republic's downfall. At one time a province of the long-passed Empire of Murne, centuries of cordial relations with their old rulers led the Haygwyn Parliament to allow any displaced refugees from the easternmost lands of the Republic to resettle within Haygwynell. This was done under the assurances of the Republic Home Army that the Krisings would be beaten back to the borders within a year or two and that the number of refugees would not exceed any drastic amount. As the orcs drew closer and closer to the Tannendalt, though, millions would flee through the porous borders of Haygwynell to escape the death brough to their home nation. In a short year, the country's population nearly doubled and forced the government to retain more of their food supplies, sending the wider continent into a near famine. Only the advent of industrial food processing and canning has lessened the effects of the shortages, though scarcity still afflicts the remote parts of Soln.   For those native to Haygwynell, adapting to the new reality of the massive population increase has been a difficult time. Many of the displaced have taken to working on the numerous farms in the region, but the everpresent job shortages means that roughly one in every four are unemployed. This has led to growing tensions between the country's natural citizens and the refugees, though thankfully no outright hostility has yet broken out. While the country is predominantly adherent to Conclave doctrine, radical Criscarian sects have begun cropping up in communities with large populations of dispossessed non-humans, which in turn has seen a rise in cults dedicated to the old gods from before humanity's domination of the continent. Many have described Haygwynell as a powder keg for these and others reason, one that risks detonating in the near future.
