The dwarves of Soln have always been an insular population, for a variety of reasons. Because of this, it's a rare sight to find any major populations outside of Gravien, and those that do exist are more or less copies in miniature of their homeland culture. They don't often mix and congeal with local customs beyond any legal obligations, as for a dwarf there is no greater society than that in the lands of their forebearers. This subbornness carries itself into all aspects of dwarven life, especially when it comes to their artistry. Dwarven craftworks, the colloquial name for their factories, produce goods to an exacting quality that is rigorously enforced. In the past it was considered a great shame to produce substandard product, and even into the age of automated assembly lines they still maintain that level of perfectionism.
There are few non-dwarves living within Gravien. This isn't because of any rampant persecution or hostilities, everyone is treated with the same level of stern cordiality. Rather, it's because the dwarven lifestyle is one of extreme regimen. There is a set time and palce for everything in a dwarf's day, something which isn't easy to adjust to for those of a more ephemeral nature like humans and elves. Those foreigners living in Gravien are usually found in Gavridun, studying at one of the fortress-city's numerous schools of artistry and manufacturing, or in the port cities like Anchorhell and Vanton Landing. Beyond that, the mountains of Gravien belong exclusively to the dwarves.
