Yagba's Hut

Yagba's hut is possessed of powerful magic, though not always to her benefit.   Long ago, before The Starless Mire sunk into darkness, there was a thicket of trees and flowers steeped in ancient fey magic. In that thicket, a simple but happy trapper and his wife made their home.   One day, the trapper's wife performed an act of great selflessness for a lord of the fey, who was traveling in the realm in disguise. The faerie lord was so touched by the act that he offered them a great blessing in exchange. Anyone who lived in the tiny house would not age - so long as they remained inside.   The trapper and his wife lived many joyous lifetimes in each other's company, until the day when news of the enchanted hut reached Yagba's ears. Using her guile, she tricked the couple into inviting her into their home and used her magic to trap them in fey skins, transforming them into a pair of gingerbread cookies. Safely locking them away in one corner of her cupboard, Yagba proceeded to enchant the hut, thicket and all, twisting it into a large dwelling that better suited her.   While Yagba owes her incredible longevity to the hut, it is still not wholly under her power. The magic hut resents the witch who robbed its owners of their happiness. It does what it can to frustrate and irk the witch. Screws in Yagba's hut are continually coming loose, drawers sticking, and cupboards swinging ajar - any small but important way the hut can help an enemy of Yagba - leading to Yagba's continual litany of complaints against her "stupid, useless hut!
