The Pits of Lythagorim
The Pits of Lythagorim are a feared maze of complex mineworks and natural cave systems which surround the Citadel of Lythagorim in the archetype of The Gravehollow. Extensive in all three dimensions, it is said that no one has a complete map of their innumerable internal spaces which are dangerous and confusing to unprepared explorers. They are thought to contain multiple gateways in and out of other realms in the Discontinuum but without a Zero Point Key, an Agent would have a very hard time finding them.
No one can be said to control the Pits exactly, but the regions closest to the Citadel at the centre are occupied by a number of competing groups who owe fealty to the Great Gloom Watcher. Here there is organised mining for Gloom Stones, Elder Silver and Haunted Coal conducted for the most part by slaves brought here from raids into other dimensions. Fights frequently break out between the various factions, who consequently spend as much energy on defending their territory as they do on mining. Away from the major seams it is easy to get quickly lost in passages where very few dare venture. Dark and fell beasts are said to prowl here but they are seldom seen clearly. Down in the far depths the flooded layers begin, a matrix of lightless chambers that continue underwater beyond the level that anyone has reliably charted.
