Imylka Jhress
Saint Imylka Jhress
Imylka Jhress was a medical technican, born in Anoomenon, who travelled to the Geigamon world of Neo Fleverovia as part of the fifth Friendship Missions in 2019 AF.
Whilst there, she was invited to witness a Geigamon Birthing as an honoured guest. These events are communal and complex ritualistic ceremonies and take place over a period of three or more hours. It so happened that at this particular event there was an unusual and highly distressing accident. Due to some strict taboos which prohibited intervention between the genetic lines of the participants at this sensitive time, only an outsider could aid the suffering victim and Imylka stepped in to fulfil that role. Afterwards she was rewarded by the grateful Geigamon with a device they called the Meditator. The Meditator was apparently an instrument constructed by a long gone human civilisation which once occuped Neo Fleverovia sometime in the misty ages before the Great Forgetting. It is physically embodied in an abstract glass scultpture with suggestions of vaguely anatomical forms which can shift and change. It is about a metre tall and two wide. The Meditator projects calming energy flows which facilitate contemplation and philosophical thinking with the range of its fields.
In 2023 AF Imylka returned to Earth, with the Meditator. Initially, she thought of it only as a curiosity but later found it helpful in therapy sessions with some of her patients. Over the next few years, the reputation of the Meditator grew with everyone who came into contact with it. Imylka found that there was a demand for public sessions, where those who had learned to appreciate the qualities of this mystical device could meet together to experience its calming atmosphere in silence. She rented a hall in the Arelde district of the city and it became a kind of informal church, around which a small inner circle of friends and advisors congregated once a week.
In 2028 she was conducting an educational session with a class of school children when a deranged individual burst into the room shouting paranoid consipracy theories about a Geigamon device taking over the minds of humans. He began to indiscriminately open fire on the assembled people, making his way to the front and seeking to destroy the Meditator. Imylka suddenly seemed to acquire an unnatural strength and jumped on the man, wresting his weapon from him. Those watching claimed that the Meditator flashed with terrible colours never seen before or since as they struggled. The medical technician and her assailant were both fatally wounded but she undoubtedly saved many lives and acquired the status of a martyr in later years.
There would be a long hiatus when the Meditator and its followers would vanish from public sight before they emerged again many years later. Eventually, almost a hundred years later, a rich member of the cult would put forth funds for the construction of St. Imylka's Cathedral and that is where the tomb of the saint and the Meditator she brought to Earth, reside to this day.
