The Glowing Basin

Far beneath Oubliette, there lies a chamber in the underdeeps know as the Glowing Basin.   This natural cavern is filled with bioluminescent fungus. The floor of the chamber is carpeted with green-glowing mosses. The pools of freshwater that dot the massive cavern are filled with glowing kelp, whose reflection make the entire ceiling look as if it is alive.   Locals hold the cavern sacred and none dare to desecrate it, using it as a place to rest and nourish their bodies and minds before continuing whatever journey they are on. Even wild beasts that find the basin are overcome with peace and serenity, refusing to give in to instinct and leave others in peace.   The watering holes, used by travelers and animals alike, are empty of animal life and have fresh, clean water. It is surmised that the pools are refreshed from a cistern or lake on a similar level with the basin, or even slightly above, causing water to seep through the layers of rock and sediment like a natural filter.   The plants that grow here are mostly edible raw, but a few need to be cooked. Most of the moss is also a source of clean water, as well.
