What is the Intention of Reclamation of Public Usage Space from Private Entities?
The
Intention of Reclamation of Public Usage Space from Private Entities is a public notice that is currently being widely distributed on the
Variance space station. It is a manifesto of sorts, advocating for and demanding the reclamation of public spaces from private entities on the Variance space station. The document strongly opposes and aims to curtail uncontrolled corporate development on the station.
This manifesto has been publicly posted and is an easily available document which, in short and direct detail, explains the intent of a coalition of community members to reclaim spaces that have previously been deemed as public on the Variance space station.
The public notice was written by a coalition of locally owned and operated businesses, several concerned community councils, and spearheaded and supported by the
The Vega-9 Punks organization. A group that is often viewed as radical but whose main focus is the community and mutual aid, with a focus on anti-authoritarianism.
The drafting of this notice stems from a growing concern over private entities, primarily MegaCorpos, taking over space on the Variance space station that was either not theirs to claim, by the loose rules of the Variance, or was by community ruling previously denoted as public space not to be used for private business of any level.
MegaCorpos have increasingly been coming into the station and taking advantage of its loose municipal rules. Since the Variance lacks a firm political system, these corporations often twist and bend the few rules of the station to their benefit. So, to fight back, this manifesto was drafted.
It has a simple statement: areas deemed as public space before private inhabitation will remain as such until the community vote deems otherwise. If the public space is occupied, it must be returned to its original state if altered and vacated promptly. If the space is not vacated within two loops, then a potential display of force will be applied to encourage vacating of the space. These displays will be conducted by a team of Vega-9 Punks and a collection of community representatives.
Notice of Reclamation: Public Usage Space
To all residents and entities of Variance space station,
This notice, The Intention of Reclamation of Public Usage Space from Private Entities, serves as a formal declaration by a coalition of community members, locally-owned businesses, concerned community councils, and the Vega-9 Punks organization. Our purpose is to reclaim and safeguard public spaces on Variance Station that have been unjustly occupied by private interests, particularly MegaCorpos.
The Variance station's prosperity and unique character are built on the principle of shared resources and communal spaces. However, the unchecked expansion of private entities has led to the appropriation of areas designated for public use, often exploiting the station's deliberately loose municipal rules. This manipulation of regulations undermines the very spirit of our community.
Therefore, we unequivocally state:
- All spaces previously designated for public use will remain as such. Any alteration or private occupation of these areas, regardless of perceived legality under distorted interpretations of station rules, is illegitimate.
- Occupied public spaces must be returned to their original state and promptly vacated. This includes the removal of all private infrastructure, signage, or any other modifications.
- A two-loop grace period will be observed for vacation. Should an illegally occupied public space not be vacated within two standard Variance loops from the issuance of this notice, a potential display of force will be applied to ensure its prompt return to public use. These displays will be conducted by a dedicated team comprising members of the Vega-9 Punks and community representatives, acting on behalf of the station's collective will.
This initiative is a collective effort to restore fairness and equity to our shared environment. We urge all private entities currently occupying public spaces to comply with this notice to avoid further action. The public spaces of Variance belong to the community, and we are united in our resolve to reclaim them.
