The true origins of the civilization that constructed the Mausoleum of the Lost Travellers is shrouded in the mists of time, predating even the arrival of the Founders' race in the Delta Space. This enigmatic culture supposedly achieved an unparalleled mastery of traversing Unknown Space, a feat deemed impossible by contemporary civilizations.   They traversed its treacherous currents, not by brute force, but through an intricate understanding of its chaotic energies, erecting immense pillar-like monuments that served as sophisticated navigational beacons. These colossal structures, designed to pierce the veil of Unknown Space and guide their vessels through its unpredictable storms, were a testament to their profound scientific and engineering prowess. Yet, time, or perhaps the very forces they sought to master, proved to be their undoing; all these ancient beacons have since crumbled, leaving no intact examples of their advanced navigation.   Today, the sole enduring relic of these lost travellers, and the last hope for understanding their lost knowledge, is the aptly named Mausoleum of the Lost Travellers. This gargantuan station, a silent testament to their vanished glory, drifts aimlessly within the gravitational pull of a nameless gas giant, ensnared in a perpetual, chaotic storm deep within the fiercely protected territory of the Hivemind Sentius Network.   Whispers and unconfirmed rumours persist about the mausoleum's contents: tales of the last of the lost travellers interred within its vast chambers, alongside their complete archives, brimming with unfathomable treasures and forgotten technologies. Despite the tantalizing allure of these mysteries, no verifiable accounts of its interior exist. The sudden and unexplained disappearance of this advanced civilization remains one of the Delta Space's most enduring enigmas, with the Mausoleum of the Lost Travellers standing as the solitary, enduring monument to their incredible, yet ultimately lost, capabilities.

Dangerous Location and Access

Accessing the Mausoleum of the Lost Travellers has become a near impossibility for a litany of reasons. First, the mausoleum is located on the fringes of known space, sitting in the territory of the Hivemind Sentius Network on the borders of O.Sec F and Unknown Space. Because of its proximity to Unknown Space, the mausoleum is subjected to frequent and chaotic energy storms that risk tearing apart any ship unlucky enough to be caught within them.   Also, due to its proximity to Unknown Space, the mausoleum and its surrounding areas are prone to increased occurrences of dangerous and often chaotic Abnormality Events. These events are far more powerful and unpredictable than a normal Abnormality Event, which can already be terrifying. When a ship is already being subjected to an energy storm and fighting the intense gravitational pull of a gas giant, having its engine turn into a block of Swiss cheese typically won’t help the situation.   To make matters more complicated, the mausoleum is located in the Hivemind Sentius Network’s territory. They are infamously protective of their territory, often permanently incarcerating or even destroying any ship that illegally enters. This, of course, extends to the Mausoleum of the Lost Travellers. The Hivemind's advanced defensive grid actively repels any unauthorized approach, deeming the site too sensitive for foreign interaction.
