What is the Sprout Mug?
The Sprout Mug is an
Abnormality Objects that quietly exists on the planet
Vastana in the Federated Territories of Vash. It has been passed down through generations of a nomadic tribe of Diavolos, handed from leader to leader.
It is a rather mundane Abnormality Object when compared to many of its siblings, like the
Quantum Recliner or the
VastReach Door. It is not flashy or extreme in nature and comes across as rather meek.
Visually, it looks like a simple clay cup, much like any other you may find. Its only distinguishing features are a subtle brown to tan gradient colour. It smells of damp earth, like soil after a soft rain.
Functionally, when a sprouted seed is placed within it alongside a pinch of fresh soil and a droplet or two of water, and a hand is placed upon its rim and it is gently shaken for a few seconds, the resulting “magic” will duplicate the sprouted seed from one to as many as ten, though the amount varies.
The Sprout Mug has been on Vastana for almost a hundred generations, and during this time, it has primarily stayed in the possession of a wandering nomadic subculture of Diavolos. The Diavolos are the primary civilization of the planet.
This nomadic tribe views the Sprout Mug as an important cultural item, used and cared for not just for its practical abilities but for its ritualism and symbolism as well.

Ritual
The nomadic tribe of Diavolos only uses the Sprout Mug during Vastana’s spring season, and it is used as part of a planting ritual. This tribe settles down for the spring and summer seasons, choosing one of a few spots on their yearly trail to settle down and sow seeds. This planting season allows them to not only rest and enjoy the summer months without extensive travel, but it also allows them to grow and stock various vegetables for the fall and winter seasons.
The Sprout Mig is only used once a year, at the beginning of the growing season in spring. During the ritual, the leader of the tribe, who is responsible for the care of the Sprout Mug, will lead the ritual alongside the group's farmers. The farmers will collectively choose one sprouted seed from amongst a batch they’ve each brought for potential selection.
This seed is then placed within the mug, and the leader of the tribe will conduct the necessary process to enact the object's absurd ability. A bit of fresh soil, a few drops of water, and a few gentle shakes, and then the leader will review the results.
The number of seedlings duplicated is often taken as either good or bad luck. If ten are created, then the following harvest season and upcoming travel season will be good. If there are only two or three seedlings created, then it may be a tough season upcoming.
