Roythan mountains Starpeak and The Golden Crown explode into massive volcanic eruption.

Two hours before dawn, the Roythan mountains Starpeak and The Golden Crown exploded into massive volcanic eruption. The cataclysmic event obliterated the key trade metropolis of Taraband, as well as the Roythan High Temple situated near the summit of The Golden Crown.

A massive blight, known as The Boil, polluted over three quarters of the northeast landmass of Heirbrosse—most of it Roythan territory. The event also sent shockwaves through the Planetary Grid, as Taraband was a Keynode city. The eastern Roythan Keynode city, Helluda, seemed to take the brunt of the overload, casting it into chaos as Artwork failed or overcycled for weeks on end.

Pinedeck, to the west, was the only Roythan Keynode that survived. As a result, it is now one of Royth's most prosperous and rich cities as Helluda never recovered and eventually collapsed into a spattering of smaller towns and lawless boroughs. On a global scale, the downstream impact on trade and geopolitical relations was also deeply marred.

The event has never been explained. The Roythan Government continued to invest in research and inquiry, even decades after the fact. The Boil has yet to show any signs of receding—a stark reminder that surely motivates those seeking answers.
