Vesuvian

"Crystal Volcano World" is gate setting #4 on the Triton Gate Network. It is a volcanic world with a methane/carbon dioxide/nitrogen atmosphere, water oceans, and a silicate surface. It experiences major temperature variations due to a 468-hour day. Its water oceans harbor microscopic and miniature life which hatches and dies off daily. Crystals, gemstones, and obsidian are common surface elements. Volcanoes are common geological features, and they also erupt often.

Atmospheric Conditions   Pressure: 0.4 atmospheres during the night, 0.5 atmospheres during the day   Composition:   (nighttime) 69% nitrogen, 21% carbon dioxide, 5% methane, 3% oxygen   (daytime) 65% nitrogen, 19% carbon dioxide, 7% oxygen, 6% methane, 3% hydrogen   Day Length: 9.1 days   Gravity: 0.32 g   Surface Temperature (Min/Mean/Max):   –100 C/–40 C/65 C

Fauna & Flora

As observed, this planet has no native flora. However, this planet has water seas that harbor native life. As observed, the native life is a myriad of micromollusks, insects, and other primordial shelled sea creatures. The flora lays eggs at the end of every night, which are able to survive in the frozen sea. At dawn, when the seas begin to melt, the eggs hatch and the tiny creatures go through an intense and short life cycle wherein they consume resources, mate, and then die off when the water freezes again.

Natural Resources

Obsidian, diamond, volcanic gasses, and freshwater are common, valuable elements here. This planet is theorized to have fossil fuels underneath its oceans, and it has access to geothermal and solar energy. Microbiota may provide access to processed biological products.
