Skathar

Skathar is a specialized and high-risk combat tactic primarily employed by the Juru in southern Teel . The maneuver relies on the voluntary deployment of a single Juru warrior who transforms himself into a living ballistic weapon.

Candidates selected for Skathar service are typically Juru of exceptional body mass and physical resilience. Through prolonged, ritualized training regimens, they develop an extraordinary resistance to fire and pain. During these exercises, their bodies are repeatedly exposed to controlled flames until they are capable of fighting even while fully ignited.

Historically, the tactic has been most effective in confined environments, during sieges, and against enemies relying on heavy plate armor, where the kinetic shock of a burning body can inflict maximum disruption.

Steps of the maneuver

  • Before entering a battle, Skathars coat their bodies with highly flammable oils and often equip themselves with glide plates or metal rings designed to increase their velocity upon impact.
  • In combat, they ignite themselves – or are ignited by their comrades – before being hurled, launched, or propelled into enemy lines with maximum kinetic force.
  • The combination of a burning exterior, immense body weight, and high-speed impact produces devastating effects, particularly against densely packed formations or heavily armored foes.
