Skorreen

The Skorreen tree produces a pod of fleshy seeds that Ozymandi, and most other species find pleasing in small amounts. The tree grows in warm wetlands areas where the seed pods drop off and float away to spread the plant. The seasonal temperatures above 10 C are favored by the Skorreen.
  Principle producers are Laicur, Hasia, Sku'te, Salworth, Nararic, Sovil, the Yashat Isles of Rour, wetlands east of Rezsad in the Rour Empire and small islands claimed by Rou and Etown.
Skorreen is an alcohol made from the pods of the Skorren tree. The alcohol is dark, with a rich flavor that most like sweetened. Skorreen pods may also be dried and ground into a powder as a food seasoning or used as a thick paste mixed with spices as in Hasia and Salworthia. The powder is used to make confectionery in Heth and Mouru and mix it in heated milk. Excessive consumption causes nausea (shaken status) if more than 2 cups/ hr are consumed and blindness (within fifteen minutes of the third cup within an hour) that is temporary, typically lasting 8 to 12 hrs in most species. ( resist at 1 rank/ drink/ hr on vitality). Additional drinks/ hr increase Skorreen toxicity rank as for Beastian Toxicity below). Skorreen is especially toxic to beastians of the Zheki kingdom. A few sips or a single candy can produce the nausea. Two candies or maybe a dozen sips. leading to the blindness. Consumption of more causes coma and death. ( each 3 sips/ gulps or 12 per cup per hrs gives the toxic effect 1 rank, toxic effect and -1 on vitality rolls per raise - nausea (shaken), weakness ( -1 on all trait rolls except vitality), blindness 8-12 hrs, vulnerable, incapcitated, wound+1) Merrow are equally sensitive. Half-Ogres find it a stimulant that gives a +1 to Vigor rolls ( upto +3 on 3 drinks/ hr or 6 candies). Chaju, the half-undead don't seem to suffer any negative effects no matter how much is consumed. Skorreen is freely consumed by all Asura and Preta with physical forms and doesn't seem to produce any negative effects.

Treatment

Purgatives and healing remedies used by a physicer or healer can remove the symptoms as can magical curing of poisons. If one survives symptoms and poisoning, each stage will vanish after 12 hrs. ( wounded status cures after 12 hrs, incapacitated after 24, vulnerable by 36, blind by 48 hrs, weakness by 60 hrs and nausea by 72 ).
