Session 3: Ships Log, Day 14

In Pursuit of the Vlaakiths' Spear

The crew of the Eve departs immediately for Garden, the nearest world where the raiders of 'The Albatross' could have escaped to in order to perform their repairs. Once there, they scout some of the various planetoids and moons in search of their quarry. After multiple false leads and failed attempts, the crew finally spots signs of recent activity on one of the forested planetoids indicating scavenging and foraging from an unknown force in an abandoned town found once the craft had landed. A beaten path leading into the forest shows promise, though no signs of the vessel were visible from the orbital survey.

Assaulting the Vlaakiths' Spear

Arcadia assigned herself, Cassius, Liliam, and Lilith to investigate the forest path. As they follow the it, they encounter multiple muddy footprints and a series of bushes that blocks their view. Arcadia and Liliam approach the bushes, using stealth to peek through the foliage and discovery of the Vlaakiths' Spear, a heavily damaged Scorpion Ship with a crew that was just as injured.

Arcadia launches a surprise attack using a fireball that instantly vaproized one a Githyanki and left the other, ostensibly their leader, singed. As the battle erupted, the Githyanki swiftly regrouped utilizing Misty Step and were able to overwelm and disable ARACNID. As they turned their attention to Liliam and Arcadia, Cassius and Lilith burst in to intercept. Unfortunantly for Lilith, her inexperience caused her to miss with her Ball and Chain spectacularly. It was only with the masterful movements and helping actions of Liliam that she was finally able to land a blow. At the mid-point of the battle, it looked like the tide was turning in favor of the Githyanki. More crew members were appearing from both the ship and the camping tents and were joining the fight. Arcadia taunted the female Buccanneer with a challenge, and the Githyanki female took her up on that challenge. It was only afterwards that she saw the error of her ways, as the Sanctuary spell cast by her beloved Cassius prevented both her and her fellow Githyanki crew members from being able to successfully break through their will to actually strike their intended target. Arcadia immediately let loose another Fireball, and then a Scorching Ray, dispatching a number of Githyanki raiders in just a few turns, as the rest of the party worked to continue to chip away at the Warriors and Monks.

By the time the order to retreat had been given, it was practically too late. Only a pair of Deck Wizards remained, one of which was immediately intercepted by Liliam due to her rogue'ish speed and dashing. The other attempted to make a getaway by reaching the spelljamming helm of the Scorpion ship, but was ultimately intercepted by Arcadia, and then banished to their home plane.
