Chapter 1, Intermission 1: Cassius' Graduation

1 Midsummer 8 BS (1492DR)

In the decades following the first shattering and the widespread distruction of Magical Items less than artifact level, practicioners of magic became classified as powerful weapons within the nation-states and kingdoms of the Forgotten Realms. This was just as true in the kingdom of Elturel, as it was in Cormyr or the territories governed by Baldur's Gate. As a result, both Cassius and Arcadia were 'enrolled' into the kingdom sponsored Elturel Magic Academy when they were discovered to have magical potential and were registered for oversight and guidance by the to oversee and guide their growth in the magical arts.

Following his accelerated graduation from this curriculem, Cassius broods by his lonesome as he overlooks the festivities of his seniors in age, but not in education.  As he does so, he considers his own goals, his accomplishments, and where his future lies. In this moment, Arcadia approaches him and surpises him in an effort to lift his mood, presenting him with a congradulatory gift, kind words, and an unforgettable statement that still ripples into their present circumstances.  Her efforts do not go un-noticed by the aspiring artificer disguising himself as a typical mage, and are appreciated profoundly.
