Elemental Vortex
The elemental chaos once encompassed most of the known world, and its influence still connects the elemental inner realms to many other places.
Manifestation
Elemental vortices connect the Realms of Earth, Magma, Fire, Smoke, Air, Ice, Water, and Ooze to the outer realms, as well as Primus. Their appearance depends on which elemental realm they connect with.
Vortices form wherever there is a strong concentration of a particular kind of elemental energy, and as all realms are formed from these elements, they are the most commonly-encountered form of natural portal. Weather can sometimes factor into their creation. For instance, vortices to the Frostfell have been known to form during harsh winters, and victims of tornadoes have, on rare occasion, found themselves flung into the realm of Air.
Localization
The strong presence of elemental energy can cause the laws of a Realm to function differently. For example, an elemental Air vortex near a body of water could cause the water to form mist or steam despite temperatures too low for vaporization.
