Ätna. The Land of the New Sun. An ancient and storied island in the far west whose mysteries, riches, wonders, and dangers are legendary to nearly all cultures of the world. In every ancient history, tales are told of a great, distant land, where the heights of magic, the depths of monstrosity, and truth of life are all sheltered within its coasts, its mountains, and its plentiful fields.
35 years ago, merchant vessels searching for alternative trade routes to the distant east came across the island which had lay hidden within fable and myth for centuries. Now, powers from across the global sphere of influence race to establish a foothold upon its sands and earth, that they may uncover its unlost legacy.
You are mercenary heroes, errants and wanderers who, for whatever reason, have abandoned your life on the mainland or from wherever whence you hailed, to pursue glory, wealth, or personal purpose here at the edge of the world. As a member of the inter-continental Adventurer's Guild, you will be companion and intermediary to the countless political powers, merchant interests, and private ventures which seek to explore, catalogue, collect, and cultivate this wondrous land.
