Staff of the Squid

This magical staff is currently in possession by Ansas the Dark. It is comprised of a translucent white staff with a squid like point on the top and a ribbed base looking a bit like tentacles. Only 5 ft tall it is somewhat between a cane and a full long staff.    The translucency is mildly disconcerting to many, and rightfully so. The staff has the ability to summon etherial tentacles to hold people motionless. It also allows the wielder to breath underwater, swallow a room in darkness, and command squids. It was apparently discovered in the lost city of Lurr in the deep desert by Blass Overa Booth. Since then it has been found in several different wizards possession. One of whom was Hurgir the mad, who was fond of torture until his untimely demise. Prior to Ansas it was in the possession of a Minotaur sage named Tabor Danaeap Oratkat, though there is some debate as to how the transaction occurred. Neither party has wished to discuss it, but the night they met there were several deaths in the city of an unusual nature which has led to some suspicion. A few that were close to the issue will not say anything and sometimes make the sign of the Three Wardens instead of giving any other response.   There is some debate as to weather it is a strange device made by the unusual Urgleblurgblug or by the Yoronith, neither are particularly comforting. Both groups are not well understood or liked. The original intent of the staff is also unclear, and some wonder if it has additional abilities that are not publicly known.
