The clan of Shamal rules the nation.
Structure
Clan Shamal is a large family and have multiple branches of the extended family throughout the nation. It means that many members of the clan fill official positions. The family
Culture
The orchards and cranberry bogs grow with little imput throughout much of the year. Becasue of this there is a lot of migratory labor in the clan. As such they use tall tents to set up temporary cities during the harvest seasons and then winter in the larger towns. The tents are tan with decorations and woven grass mats placed inside and out to prevent overly muddy floors and walkways.
Stone buildings with wooden roofs are the most common within towns.
While traveling the workers tend to spend the time practicing with staves, polearms, and slings. Others will spend time on embroidery of the clothing or the traveling pillows and bedrolls.
Clothing is typically felted bogstrand which is a variety of purple flowering flax. Generally the tops are pleated and embroidered. Curved patterns, especially paisley style swirls with animals and flowers in and around them.
The plague memorial week, happens in winter to remember the darkness and encourage better days with better light coming soon. During this week there is much singing, retelling of ancestor tales, as well as the burning of bog week effigies of demons. This burning of effigies pre-dates this celebration and may be related to old spirit worship celebrations. There is sweet citrus tinged wines or teas consumed.
Summer has a renewal festival with fancy roast meats and feats of strength. Special colorful hats are used during the festival.

Largely orcish, with some smattering of other sentients.
Foreign Relations
They are not a strong nation, but also not particularly valuable. So they are not currently under attack, though there are some governments looking to perhaps incorpoate them within their nation.
Agriculture & Industry
The swamps and bogs provide less common fruits for export. Between that and the orchards of citrus fruits it comprises most of their production. There is not a ton of other industry as it is a small nation.
