Jeweled Gnomes

One of the two most common gnomish ethinicities. These gnomes are known for their baked goods.

Naming Traditions

Feminine names

Sasi, Apallaa, Jayaa, Inda, Haima, Nimi are all common. Female names will often end in -i, or -a.

Masculine names

Ksemat, Dishko, Statat, Murudal, Ruvao, and Lohitakinil are common male names. They often end in -o, -t, or -l.

Unisex names

Ashoka, Yaraka, Manak are examples of unisex names. They often end in -ka or -ak or -ek.

Family names

Family names are often similar to given names with a -cal suffix. For example: Manakcal, Devical, and Ruvuacal. Others seem just like longer names.

Other names

Middle names are occasionally given, though more common among nobility or the learned. These names are added usualy during puberty and not at birth. They are either a compound word or trait, usually in an ancient dialect of gnomish. For example: Dishko Mazpai (Strongfoot) Ornical.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

At birth the umbilical cord is preserved and dried and usually incorporated into a good luck talisman. The talisman is held by the parents and then entusted to the childs spouse years later upon marriage.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Some ethnicities use consecrated graveyards or mausoleums, Jeweled Gnomes tend to creamate their dead. Preserving the remnant bones in small jars. The exception is the sorcerers, wizards, an holy priests of their kind. Their bodies are dessicated and the Bones of sorcerers and brains of wizards are preserved and used in magical items and amulets. The skins of powerful priests are used to create a form of human leather to be blessed and contain holy relics, or to create holy talismans. Becasue of this, most will have significantly complex legal arangements on how their body is to be used upon death. Sometime this is to give peices to family ot auction them off. One even promised it to the last living of her rivals.

Major organizations

The elderly gnomish fraternal organization of Sanctites and sororital organization of Gosoroit have branches in most communities. They are specifically organized to provide service to the community. They are a quasi-religeous organization with local chapters among gnomish populations as well as to others. Each chapter will organize a chapterhouse for meetings and supply gathering. While these organizations have historically made exceptions to being a gnome to enter their ranks, the vast majority of members are gnomes.
