Gnumknish
Gnumknish is the default common language for trade and diplomacy. It isn't the best language, it is sometime indelicate. Most importantly it is pronouncable by most species which makes it ideally suited to an international language. This ease of use doesn't mean it is without depth as it has borrowed many words from other languages, and can be quite nuanced at times.
Writing System
Aoeim is the system most used, though some encodings into the Knimwellit Symbology have been made in the past as well. It used diacritics at times, however it also uses full-width vowel forms.
Geographical Distribution
Accross all realms. It is mostly standardized by the core texts of The Tree of Solmain, The Nine Realms: A Primer, and Songs of Strength and Wonder. These have been in use for a thousand years and prior to them there was a similar set of standard texts.
Tenses
There are four commonly used tenses. Past, Present, Future, and with modifiers for aspects such as continuous and perfect. Complex time is hard to render in verbs, but it is the type of things that doesn't come up often in Gnumknish. AC
Sentence Structure
Actor - Action - Subject is the standard form. Appending dependant clauses can occur before of after the main sentance structure.
Adjective Order
While different ethnicities have distinct orders, there is no strictly enforced pattern of adjectives.
