Consecration
Priests of various religions worked to solve the problem posed by a societies dead being animated against them by power hungry necromancers. The resultant series of protections are collectively known as Consecrations. While other consecrations are performed in a general sense of the dedication of a place or being to god, the consecration of the dead is of very clear utility. Depending on the religion some forms of consecration are more effective, and others are less effective but wider applied.
Consecration ceremonies often include parts of the rituals that are non-magical but also prevent undeath and disease. For example the followers of The Dragon Gods will burn their dead in a pyre and inter the bones in family or community mausoleums. The burning prevents any chance of fleshy undeath such as zombies and ghouls. Then the prayers and incense regularly given near the mausoleums complete the magical ceremony.
The followers of the Host of the Nomele will bury their dead and anuualy perform priestly rituals to protect the grave sites. They also shroud their dead in an annointed fabric. This oil seems to not affect most necromancers, but alone is enough to kill the spores that are part of a Fungal Zombie Infection.
The Church of Erev individually consecrates each grave site with a priestly prayer, then performs monthly prayers over gravesites.
The Church of the Earthstar creates and blesses boneyards. Where the bones of the dead are stored after desiccation. The desiccation salts are holy and blessed. After use they are heated and reused for the next death. Most church buildings will have a drying bed filled with the holy salts. The nearly bone bodies are then piled into the boneyards with yearly vigils of sacred fires.
Other consecration rituals bless the recipients with temporary protection against necromantic effects. Often granted to those who are priests going into dangerous arcanely negative areas, or warriors on battle to fight a necromancer. The ability to not be transformed upon death to fight your companions is sought after by many in dangerous situations.

Utility
Consecrations tend to prevent undeath, and at times also promote general health and wellbeing.
Social Impact
Fear of undeath is strong and many communities will prioritize the consecration of their graves/ mausoleums/ boneyards. Lately with the The Plague of Silmora and the deaths and collapse of many civilizations, there are many graveyards no longer regularly consecrated. As such the rise of undead over the last few years has increased. Calls for more priests and monks to perform consecrations is heating up as the Letum Comet is predicted to approach Gorel soon. Some governments are funding wandering priests to consecrate known large gravesites to prevent a possible catastrophe.
