Codex Aspara

One of the elements that ties most Elvish cultural groups togeather is the Codex Aspara. The document is usually printed in several volumes due to it's size. Several varients exist across time and cultures.

Purpose

To establish elven identity and culture. It came out of the need to form their own independant identity not just as slaves in the Draconic empire. Over time stories and sections were added. Though the primary work has been relatively stable for several thousand years.

There is no specific manufacturer of the codex, many groups will create their own versions. It is one of the more common set of books in the realms.

Legacy

Minor Heroes and Lights of Knowledge are the sections that have the highest varience between versions. Lights being one with the most differences. Varients are categorized into three primary types; High for the ones among the High Elves, Common for the ones among the Low Elves, apocryphal for those among other smaller elvish ethnicities and non-elves.

It is credited with standardizing the elvish language over time as the Aspara is used to teach language among all elvish populations. It is also used for plays, songs and works of art, making it the essential home volume set. Decorated versions are very common and ones with complex scripts and decoration.
