Not far from the Faenn's home planet of Elarvis sits a dwarf planet by name of Renion. It is surrounded by a large ring full of rocky formations and ice crystals. The ice catches the light from the star Krio and casts a rainbow of colors along the whole of Renion. Despite the beauty of the planet itself, there are a people who have chosen to settle in the ring, the Rennise. These robust people made their homes in scattered colonies across the many rock formations within the great ring, burrowed into the ice and stone.
While Renion may not be their home it is still vital to their survival. Using a technology that draws power and magic from the cosmos they warp to the planet and mine deep within the crust for a multitude of minerals valuable to their culture. The surface of the dwarf planet offers only a vast forest of fungus and an untold number of insectoid creatures of all different shapes and sizes. Under the surface, though, is a seemingly endless supply of minerals. The Rennise use some for trade and infrastructure, but the most important is the one on which they sustain themselves. With the only water available in and around the planet being ice that is harder than diamond the people evolved long ago to instead feast upon a sugar like crystal called Nephinite.
Anatomy
There are many different sexual presentations within the species, and so there is little to no sexual dimorphism. Different sexes look very much like each other, sometimes being impossible to tell the difference. They are a small people, the shortest being no less than 2 feet and the tallest no more than 2.5 feet. Their bodies are lean yet robust with thick rough skin that come in browns, yellows, and deep oranges. Four arms are one of the many things left from their evolution from a great ancient insectoid species, along with the mandibles on their cheeks, and six neo-eyes along the brow. A pair of feathered antennae protrude from the head near where a humanoid's ears would be. Their eyes are large and dark with three pupils, large irises in a range of dark greens and browns, and black scleras.
Reproduction
Unlike many other species, the Rennise are able to fully choose when they want to create offspring. There is no need for copulation. Instead individuals that want to reproduce activate a hormone in their body that begins the process. In order to complete the process the individual needs a much larger amount of Nephinite to sustain them, all of the nutrients being diverted to a small sack that grows on the back on the neck. After the equivalent of four months common time the individual drops the sack from their body, the sack having grown to the size of a basketball. Since the parent used all of their energy producing the birth sack they spend the next six months common time in hibernation while the sack continues to develop. After this time the sack grows thick and leathery then splits to reveal no more and no less than three newborn Rennise.
Communication
Speech in the Rennise culture is incredibly different from any humanoid and many other creatures. Rather than words they communicate with trills and clicks. Even these sounds are not the 'words' of their language. Instead, the trills and clicks are used only to convey emotion. Their main way of communication is a form of telepathy. Every being is connected to every other and can convey everything they need to with eye contact, using the trills and clicks as more of a sidekick to the main language. Because of this unique form of speech there are no such thing as names in the culture.
What a fascinating group! I think it's very clever to have them use sound for something different than language, given the telepathy. May the nephinite mines run deep and plentiful! Also woo! Go team aliens!

Thank you so much! I definitely wanted to do something a lil different for their communication. I'm glad you like it~ :3
