House Czarnecki

House Czarnecki was a Trebai noble family that reached the height of its prominence around the year 5900. Having historically held power in the Ledetz region of the Western Commons, the family drastically declined when one of its members massacred a large number of mutinous soldiers during the Second Trebai Civil War.

History

House Czarnecki first rose to prominence during the First Trebai Civil War. During this event, a number of factions opposed to the High Kingdom of Beurum broke off from the kingdom and entered a conflict with a number of factions loyal to the High Kingdom, as well as the authority of the kingdom itself. The revolt was quickly put down, with a young man, Adrer Czarnecki, receiving a vast amount of land for his efforts.   Adrer Czarnecki quickly began a family and established it as the new leading nobility in the region of Ledetz. The family quickly took over the brewing and mining industries in the area, and assisted friendly nobility in driving a number of small farmers off their land in favor of the creation of large plantations.   About half a century later, the Peasant's Rebellion of 5915 broke out, in which leagues of disgruntled commoners, suffering from severe poverty, began to gather weaponry and raid small military installations. The situation snowballed, and soon the peasants were in an uneasy alliance with several small kingdoms which had been left in a bad place after the civil war.   House Czarnecki once again provided assistance to the High King. Among those who volunteered to fight was Jedrek Czarnecki, a bard and son of the family. His family, fearing for his safety, quickly arranged for him to be an officer.   The Peasant's Rebellion turned into an all-out war, which became far more violent and grueling than anyone had suspected. Following a surprise defeat at the Battle of Naje Passage, most of the soldiers House Czarnecki had provided mutinied, taking up arms against their superior officers. During the affair, Jedrek Czarnecki somehow massacred most of those who had taken arms up against them, with the rest fleeing.   Jedrek fled, and House Czarnecki received severe criticism for how they had mistreated the soldiers and mishandled the mutiny. The mutineers who had survived the ordeal quickly defected and revealed intelligence that compromised House Czarnecki's position. Together, the Rebellion forces launched an all out attack on the ancestral castle of House Czarnecki, Whitehall, and slaughtered much of the family. The High Kingdom did not attempt to aid House Czarnecki, but did take advantage of the Rebellion's attack; with the enemy forces gathered in one place, High Kingdom forces quickly moved to Whitehall and massacred the bulk of the Rebellion forces, ending the war. House Czarnecki was destroyed, though Jedrek Czarnecki was still nowhere to be found.
