Chaos and Order
Chaos (also known as the Force, Power, or primordial Chaos) is the power which is harnessed and used by mages, and is the opposite of Order. Places where Chaos is strongest and most accessible are known as intersections, where it is drawn from the Air, Fire, Earth, or Water, with Water being the easiest to master. Strangely, cats are sensitive to these places. Dragons are as well, but as they are considered magical beasts, this seems less strange. The Order is a mystical power opposite to the Chaos. According to Borch, the Order is the side which is endangered, in need of defense, while Chaos is a threat, the aggressive side.
Destiny
Many people believe in the existence of Destiny, a mysterious force which binds certain people together, determining their fates. According to believers, one can either follow the path of Destiny of one's free will or try to resist it, although the latter can bring grim consequences. On the other hand, some feel that Destiny is not everything. These people say that something more is needed in order to bind two lives together, even if the rules of fate decide otherwise.
Sources
A Source is a person born with a natural affinity for magical abilities which are rather difficult to control once they have bloomed, which can sometimes lead to mental illness, like catatonia, if not helped. Stressful situations usually work as the trigger of a Source's ability. However, this is double-sided: while Sources can wield an extreme amount of power, it's completely uncontrollable and will only happen when they least expect it as they act more like a transmitter of magical energy, rather than wielders of it. This can lead to dire situations where even a castle or half of a town can be destroyed if not brought under control.
