Upadra
"Upadra is a small town in South-Undrico, perched on an outcrop of the roots of the Domart Mountains in the west. Here the land declines steeply, and the drier mountains make way for the more lush and fertile valleys below. Upadra sits on a narrow ledge that juts out of the ground with High Spire Castello at its peak.
The town is little more than a single street with a few alleys branching off of it. At the end of the street is the Angle Plaza, where High Spire Castello can be accessed by a stone bridge. Around the plaza you’ll also find the town hall, though it is hardly an administrative building. It is mostly used as a place to meet up or discuss business. Some would call it a decorated tavern. However, Angle Plaza itself is the preferred meeting place for many of the people of Upadra. Here they’ll set out tables and benches during festivities and celebrate with fruits and vegetables, as well as earth-spices from the mines in the mountains.
The rest of Upadra is built tightly around the main street that runs across the ridge. The buildings hug the streets, and the few paths that trail off are narrow, and almost all of them lead to dead ends. And some, literally.
Dead End Tavern is one of the taverns in the town, and its name is derived from the alley along which it is situated. This alley is infamously called Murder Alley. That name should tell you enough about what happens there. Another notable alley is Whisper Alley. Here, criminals deal in secrets—and the fewer people are in on the secret, the better. Occasionally, someone is found on the rocks below, seemingly having slipped. But maybe they were pushed? Either way, it is likely that more accidents happen, and the wild wolves or Fern-Crawlers simply get to them first.
Upadra is not a terribly important place, but it has a reputation for being dangerous."
