Cin Tayun

The wealthy port city of Cin Tayun has become the economic hub of the Elderlands. With control over the two largest ports, Port Tranquility and Port Serenity, the majority of travel and trade with the Farlands occurs through them. This has lead to Cin Tayun becoming a plutocratic society, as the self-proclaimed “Trade Masters” run education, real estate, and major trade concerns leaving the government to essentially become a beurocratic machine to drown concerns in paperwork. Any member of society who doesn’t belong to, or manages to become a part of, the Merchant class are seen essentially as cogs for the labour force. Most of the largest companies offer a program called “Lifetime Compensation” where employees are given housing, food, basic amenities and (most importantly) access to the school system for their children. They are, however, never entitled to payment beyond the program.
