Cars

In the city of Freehold where the pursuit of technology is embraced, one will see numerous vehicles that move on four wheels. To elders these ‘motorized chariots’ are still something to behold, while younger folk eagerly embrace what are being called ‘cars’. So popular are these cars that the wealthy denizens of places like Cin Tayun across the water will pay exorbitant fees to own one. It is likely inevitable that enough money will eventually be offered to designers and engineers to begin production on a car brand in the Elderlands.   Racing and Mods   With the popularity of cars rising and the cost lowering, more and more people are thinking less of these vehicles for practical purposes and turn to them for excitement or leisure. Each of the city-states now have a recognized racing circuit: the An Pella Speedway, the Catal Speedway, and the Freehold Motor Raceway. Thousands of onlookers every year travel for racing races or participate in betting. Beyond the legal circuit, down in the wilder eras of Eastern Evarna there are racers that brave forest, sand, and even water for a change at glory. In An Pella, while illegal, street racing is common and extremely popular.   Of course, with every legal opportunity for excitement there develops an underground. Most modding of cars off of the production line is illegal, with only a few temporary spells such as colour changes or designs that don’t alter the physical perception of the car being permitted. That has not stopped some metalsmiths from pushing cars to go faster, perform more dangerous stunts, or even drive up the side of buildings to the shock of officers during a chase. Getting caught modding a car like that is risky, but to many it’s worth it.
