Mission City Rumble
The Mission City Rumble is both the name of a makeshift underground arena as well as the illegal fighting tournament held there. Located beneath a bootleg communicator shop in The Back Alley, the Mission City Rumble is popular both among Mission City's criminal element, as well as those with lower entertainment standards.
Many different event types are hosted at the arena. Some are more formal tournaments, but others are dirty last-mech-standing brawls where the losers are sold for chassis components.
For an underground fight ring on what amounts to a backwater planet, the MCR seems to be quite well-funded and equipped, and this is mostly due to the fights' mysterious benefactor and operator. What ulterior motive he has for hosting the fights, no one knows. But he seems to make plenty of money off them...
Architecture
After descending through the secret entrance, visitors enter a lobby with a box office that sells tickets to fights, and hands out application forms for potential fighters. Two sets of stairs leave the lobby, one ascending to the viewing platforms, and another descending into the hypogeum.
The hypogeum consists of prep rooms for the fighters, as well as staging rooms that can rise to the arena floor for dramatic entrances. The hypogeum also contains a "medbay" which is mostly a chassis market processing facility, where losers are butchered for sale as spare parts.
The viewing platform consists of tiered seating that gives a clear view of the arena, including bleachers as well as two private rooms. The viewing platform is separated from the arena by thick glass, steel bars, and deployable blast shields.
The arena is a large, flat field of concrete divided into segments. The varying segments can be raised and lowered through hydraulic actuators to create different field conditions, such as small fortifications, ramps, and low cover.
