Angolmois
A mysterious black substance found in place of blood in The Heralds, Angolmois seems, in many ways, similar to nanomachines, but its compounds are completely organic in nature. The Heralds seem to be able to manipulate and control Angolmois in order to fuel their unique abilities, such as extreme regeneration, enhanced durability, and enhanced senses.
Angolmois appears as a black liquid with a viscosity similar to the blood it replaces. It is not iridescent, and seems to "dry out" under sunlight, just as blood does. Microscopic examination reveals it to be made of millions of independently-operating microorganisms, effectively making the Heralds symbiotic in nature. Though the microorganisms are composed of organic compounds, they are capable of replicating the traits of many inorganic substances. The microorganisms also have the ability to move and operate independently, though only under certain conditions.
