Hadar*

Splitting the Chord in two, Hadar* has long affected the history of the civilized galaxy.   A Trinary star system, Hadar* is actually three separate stars in a chaotic, unknowable orbit of each other. In any other section of the chord, this would not be an issue. Even the Ameselans where smart enough to build their original transit points far away from the star's chaotic paths. It is the singular 'inhabited' planet, Hadar Beta, that makes Hadar* so dangerous.   Hadar Beta, or simply Beta, was presumably once inhabited by a splinter colony of the old human empire. Of this, we are quite sure. The southern pole of the planet features a dome with what appear to be well manicured gardens, verdant with life (though even this is difficult to ascertain). Outside this polar dome, however, the planet is on the verge of a runaway greenhouse effect. On a knife's edge of melting down into another Teica. Outside the dome, the planet is nothing but a limitless expanse of machinery, factories, and extraction.   The only intelligent, native life of Beta and Hadar* is artificial. The entire system is a chaotic ballet of AI and automated defenses. This rogue defense system, having apparently killed its creators in some kind of robotic uprising, not only makes transit of Hadar* dangerous, but serves as a warning to the rest of the civilized galaxy. To create artificial life, is to create one's own successors.   Once one creates their own betters, they are doomed to be replaced.
