Evan Sabre
Also known as The Blade, Evan Sabre was the principal adversary in many of the early adventures, and has (despite being dead) made several appearances in later ones. He was a psychopathic killer driven by a hatred of women, a hate which seemed to persist for a time even after his death. But in a more recent adventure, Sabre appeared to be making an effort at atonement and redemption.
Born in Germany, it is believed that he was brutally abused by his father, whom he eventually murdered. At the same time, he disfigured his mother, the first manifestation of his hatred toward all women. He fled to America and settled in San Francisco, engaging in both legitimate and criminal enterprises. He was responsible for the revival of Jack the Ripper from cryogenic sleep and the murder of Janet Rutherford, among other crimes. He was eventually hunted down and killed by the Silver Ghost and his associates.
When Kelly Casale bought Sabre’s house in a police auction, Sabre’s ghost attempted to manifest itself and possess several individuals. Forced to accept his ultimate helplessness, something changed for Sabre. He later possessed the body of a comatose adventurer and helped track down a murderer, but was again convinced to leave that body behind.
At the time of his death, Sabre was in his mid-40s. His hair was prematurely white, and his skin was exceptionally pale. His eyes were blue, and expression almost always cold and ruthless. He appeared almost physically fragile, and preferred to let others do his fighting for him — but if cornered, he was a nasty fighter in his own right.
