REMOTE: Either a Very Good or Very Bad Idea

(Text for possible inclusion into The Cat, Crow, & Knitten Show - Vol. 3)

Cat thinks hard about what she could do to undo what has been done. "There must be some way to reverse time. It is my sworn duty to protect the castle and I've failed! I've been given all these powers that transcend what is possible, but what good is it if I can't undo any of the damage that has been done?"

Crow sits himself upon the ground cross-legged in semi-defeat, still coming to grips with what has transpired. "What's done is done, Cat. There's never been a way to take back an action or words. I wish there were, but this is our new reality that we have to adapt to somehow. If I could create a device that would take us back, I most certainly would."

"A device?" Cat's eyes glow as though a lightbulb were turned on. "I... just thought of something that could help." She focuses her attention on the glimpse she had of something extraordinary as her giant pencil and paintbrush emerge from her tails, ready to work their reality-warping powers of creation.

"Uh oh, why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Crow says, watching her.

Cat's tails settle into position for a tense moment, then fly into overdrive, whirling and whipping the something thought into something tangible. Despite all the fancy commotion, an object no larger than one of Big Friendly's spinach and jam loaves begins to take shape in Cat's paws. When it is complete, a sleek, black device with rows of buttons rests there in all its unknown glory. Cat regards the device with wide, desperate eyes before raising it slowly into the air. "This is... a remote. To be more precise, it is a universal remote control. With it, I should be able to rewind us to before this got out of hand, or maybe even choose a different set of events where this never could have happened!"

Knitten cries out from Crow's pocket, "Yay! Mommy is so amazing! She'll fix everything!"

Crow looks a bit terrified of the concept as he ponders what could be. "No, no, no, no. This isn't right. I don't know what that is, but I don't like the thought of messing with our world or events that have already taken place. That shouldn't be possible. It may make things worse yet. Cat, no! That could be disastrous! You've got to stop!"
