POCKETSES: Back to Those Spooky Woods
(Text for possible inclusion into The Cat, Crow, & Knitten Show - Vol. 2)
Crow tucks his shirt into his favorite red britches with care before threading his wings through the arm holes in his dark-orange vest. "This is an important day. I was contemplating about it last night and settled upon a revelation. We need to venture over to the Gossamer Woods again and politely request an escort from my friend, Sonarina."
Cat thinks a moment before it hits her. "Oh! I remember her. She's the bat girl we happened upon while she was having a quarrel with Piklok."
"Yes, her," Crow nods, now buttoning up the vest front. "She should be able to guide us through to where the abandoned castle is located. I've not yet explored the woods, but this mystery is beginning to point more and more to the possibility that Wispnell may be resurrecting Old King Bazlan there." He gently picks up Knitten and places her into his lower left front pocket.
"I think you just want to see her again," Cat says with a grin. "I saw the way you were looking at her last time."
Crow blushes. "What? No! W-What makes you think that? I just hadn't seen her in awhile."
"Seems to me she's the only female friend you have, present company not included."
"Yes, but that doesn't make her my girlfriend. A friend who's a girl, yes, but not a love interest."
Cat giggles as her eyes change to mischievous. "I know. I just like watching you squirm when the subject makes you nervous. Hehee!"
Now Knitten laughs too, "Ha! You're funny, mommy. Maybe a little mean picking on daddy like that though. I didn't get the feeling that daddy was extra sweet on Sonarina when we met her."
"Thanks for being on my side, Knitten," Crow grumbles. "Anyways, more than just not wanting to get lost in those spooky woods, Norbert implied that there might be a secret portal in place that must be passed through to arrive at the actual castle."
Cat is a little lost herself. "Like in a pocket dimension? Are you saying the ruins aren't the real thing?"
"I know all about pocketses!" Knitten calls out with pride from her spot in Crow's pocket. "They're comfortable!"
"This one might not be," Crow tells them. "I haven't encountered a lot of magick, but walking through into a space made of the stuff sounds dangerous. Besides, it might just be that the castle is located elsewhere and the portal is a shortcut. Still doesn't make me excited to walk through one. But we have to approach Sonarina with the request in the proper way or she might refuse to guide us, or even ban us from entering."
