DROWN: Music Done Forest-Style

(Text for possible inclusion into The Cat, Crow, & Knitten Show - Vol. 2)

As Sonarina guides them along a subtle course through the trees and other growth, it is only obvious as a path while on it, nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding area and difficult to see with the thick, webbed canopy blocking out much of the sunlight. It would be easy to become lost in here if you do not know the way.

She enlightens them about her home, "Gossamer Forest s'not as fright 'n doom as legends would let people believe. You ever seen us lit up after Sun dunks the dance low? Colorous parties jammin' most nights. Days too. No doubt Sun's too bright then for you to see our colors from beyond."

"I'll admit I don't look in this direction much at night from the castle, but I have never noticed any lights coming from here." Crow tells her.

"Hmm, yeah. Webs blocking it, no doubt. Pity you. Though, Crow, you brave enough to loit here after dark, I'd introduce you to some my other 'quaints and we can party hop. You'd not regret it. Probably."

Cat get excited by the prospect. "Ooh, sounds fun! Would I be able to tag along too if Crow does?"

"Yeah, sure. You seem legit," Sonarina nods at Cat.

Crow contemplates what she said. "Wild parties? Huh. I never would have guessed. You're right, Sonarina. Growing up, everyone always told stories and rumors that made this forest sound dark, gloomy, and dangerous at best. Why though? I suppose that helps your community by keeping a lot of unwanted guests from wandering in, but how did the rumors start?"

Sonarina smiles in a sly, knowing fashion. "Yeah, might be history to that, but s'all yester-fester. No going back on the done, na-mmm."

"Huh. Okaay," Crow says, having noticed her smile and suspecting she may be harboring a truth she does not want to share. This seems unusual, based on the previous times he has conversed with her, but he decides to let it slide for now. "Um... Oh! Tell me, does it get really loud with multiple parties happening all at once? Funny no one's talked about hearing more than creepy sounds emanating from here. That seems odd if there's music being played." Okay, maybe one more dig, he figures.

"Eh, the forest hungers a different melody than beyond. Creepy to you, melodious to us. Plus, the overall pumpness depends on where you go. Some party music has a tendency to drown out any convo and everyone is just flailing. Other places are slump-'n-lax. Grab a half-shell of chee juice and just drone, yeah?"

"Fascinating. I can't wait to hear it in person some time."

"Me too!" Knitten chimes in. "I hope it's got great, descriptive details to go with it!"

Cat's eyes light up with surprise at Knitten's revealing words, so she tries to draw attention away from her. "Hehe! Yes, me as well! I'm sure the music just kinda speaks to you. That'll be quite an experience, right? Right, everyone? And that chee juice, I'm feeling super eager to try some of that, whatever it is. Yes siree!" She thinks to herself, Everyone look at me, not at her. I've gotta have another chat with that girl about not revealing her weaknesses. She's not careful enough with her words.

"But, mama..."

If you can hear me, sweetie, we'll talk about this later. Not right now.

"...Okay."
