The Flesh Pit

A place people aren't supposed to go.

Location: Munsrufin Hacked Dynasty.

Status: Unstable, breathing, forbidden.

The Flesh Pit, a biomechanical wound etched into the foundations of reality, is buried under the bone-hung capital of the Munsrufin Hacked Dynasty. It beats. It murmurs. It recalls. According to the Dynasty, it is forbidden that nobody may go down into it, not even the Daughters of the Bleeding Threat, scavengers, or soldiers.

However, people do.

And they never return.

Origin:

There was no such thing as the Flesh Pit. A cavity found deep beneath the massive Dynasty data tombs was excavated. Deeper investigation showed organic walls, vascular data conduits, and traces of pre-dynastic language fused into the meat-like growths that were once believed to be an ancient flare-core eruption.

The Dynast sealed it after the first explorers returned, half-clothed, with missing teeth and repetitive screams for speech, declaring it unfit to pass down. A land cursed. An unremembered birth that ought never to have happened.

What Lies Inside?

  • Vocal Skin: Even if you never said the recollections, the walls recite them to you in your own words.
  • Chimeric Reflections: These are pools of gooey liquid where the reflections transform into warped "ideal" versions of themselves that wish to take your place.
  • The ancient script known as "bleeding codes" leaks from the ceiling and contaminates flesh with data mutations.
  • The Roo fo the Heart: A possible core at the Pit's base. It is unclear if it is a machine, a consciousness, or the remnant womb of a god.

Why Is It Forbidden?

Because the last time a crew went in, the whole city above them opened up like a skin flower, revealing reality tears and entrails. Overnight, three small dynasties fell, their descendants liquefied by inherited memory burns.

The Pit is said to be resistant to entry. It desires a new birth--through you.

Current Status:

Maggot Priests continue to descend in spite of the prohibitions. Inside the walls are "primordial coding strands," according to renegade academics. Now, the Dynasty is thinking of blowing up the whole area, although it's unclear what would happen to the Pit or whether it would just grow up somewhere else.

For The Flesh Pit is more than just a location.

It is how the world seemed prior to the gods purifying it.

And some others think it's attempting to come back.

Only Known Survivor:

The only person known to have ever escaped The Flesh Pit is Eldora.

When she disappeared into its depths, she was only a girl, pursuing a sister who had heard the voices. Like the others, everyone thought she had been eaten. But years later, half-feral and covered in shimmering glyphs, Eldora crawled out, her eyes ablaze with hues no onw knew what they were.

For years, she would not talk. Not until she became a part of Zhaïraë’alya's divine circle.

Eldora still refuses to discuss what she witnessed. However, she is aware of the codes, the barriers that are bleeding, and the things that are still developing in the shadows.

She didn't get out of the Pit, according to some.

According to those few, the Pit merely released her in order to get the rest of the world ready.
