Fateweavers
Fateweavers, also known as "the fates" are secretive spirits of fate and destiny, agents of the Three Kings and directing The Divine Machine in their absence.
The Fates are the silent hand behind the curtain, directing the legions of Mechanoids, managing the mandates of the Administrators and making adjustments in the mortal worlds.
They are gifted with unrivaled foresight into the future to try to steer the course of the universe and to keep it safe.
A chosen Few
Fateweavers are few in number and not very personally powerful; they do their duty from behind the scenes, by directing the resources of the divine machine and administrators.
Hidden deep within the divine machine lies their sanctuary from which they peer out across the entire universe, guarded by the most powerful defenses conceived in all the Brass realms.
They rarely ever leave their sanctuary for the risk is simply too great. If a fateweaver is ever destroyed, it is a tragic loss; It can be repaired and reassembled but some pieces are always missing; to make new ones is extraordinarily difficult.
The Fates are imbued with free will and are not nearly as inflexible in thinking as the machines they command. However they are unflinchingly loyal to the cause of order.
Whenever the divine machine deviates from its established patterns it is either because of an outside threat or because of the will of the fates. They never run out of work, always busy, and if there is not a crisis they are currently fighting they are preparing for the next one.
The Machine
The Fateweavers manage the divine machine, keeping it safe and operational. To this end they give orders to the Lords of Order who are in turn more than able to fulfill the complicated commands of the fates.
The Administrators
The Fates oversee the promotion of mortals into administrators, also known as 'gods'. They judge whether an individual will be useful to the long-term stability of the spirit world, and either allow or deny their application as a result. They also assign authorities and nudge them towards certain domains in the spirit world upon their ascension, all without ever showing themselves.
If necessary, they also send the Mechanoids Judges to communicate their orders directly to an administrator, disguising their orders as those of the great machine, which is not untrue.
The Mortal World
The Interference of the Fates into the mortal world is very limited. Occasionally their influence can be felt through orders given to mortals by the divines, but most often they are left to their devices. However a notable exception is Curses. Fateweavers can be invoked by anybody that has been slighted and treated unjustly, and, for a price, can render judgement. All the mortal world sees is the end result of any such discussion, as the discussion is never had, it only ever happens in the fateweaver's predictions.

Duties
The existence of the fates is known. What isn't known is just how much they are involved in the operation of the Brass Realms, for their duties encompass every world that make up the universe. The Machine
