Delirium

"The antithesis of logic and reason. A cancer upon consciousness itself. That this creature continues to exist within the realms is the gods' greatest failing."
— Canoth, Lich of Eifera
Divine Rank: Greater Deity
Alternate Names: The Dreamer, The Broken

Primary Authority: Madness

Secondary Authorities: Dreams, Confusion, Trickery, Illusions, Chaos

Description:

Delirium is Madness and confusion personified. It is the god of madness, and as such it is itself also insane. It is a fickle thing, its attentions, plans and future ever inscrutable. Not even Delirium itself understands fully what it wants or what it will do next.

Followers:

Every inhabitant of the brass realms that is afflicted with madness or mental illness in some way is a follower of Delirium, willing or not. Most however are unaware that they feed the god of insanity. However they came upon their affliction, delirium whispers to them in their dreams and grants power and insight to those that embrace their madness, though most do not remember it come the morning.

Those that worship delirium willingly and aware can become true priests of madness. Priests of delirium are powerful but unpredictable and thus dangerous. They preach madmen's knowledge and every sermon they hold risks turning its listeners insane. They use madness as a weapon along with trickery and deceit, attacking the sanity of their enemies in every way.

Clerical mandates:

Many followers of delirium keep to personal rules and patterns of behavior as islands of stability amidst their crumbling sanity.
This merely delays the inevitable.

Appearance

As a greater deity, Delirium never shows itself. It is however depicted in a hundred thousand forms by the mentally unwell, usually misinterpreted as the artists expressing their existence.
