Black Hallows
Black hallows is a major industrial city in the north of the Lionel county. It is a city of industry, of smoke and steel.
Almost any knowledge can be found here, it may just be in one of the restricted sections. Large portions of the library are not accessible except to those with the needed connections, and a lot of knowledge stored here is illegal to spread.
While not officially a church, several of the employees are priests of Xaaris, though they don't advertise it.
The Forge-quarters: Black Hallows is the main industrial city of the Lionel County. As such, this is the area of the city where massive amounts of coal and ore are turned into ingots and gear. In turn, in the Forge-quarters you can find the greatest metal-smiths of the county, acquire master-crafted armors and weapons and commission the most rare of treasures. Even a few mage-smiths call this place home.
The Coal-basket: This is the quarters where the poor and the menial workers of the city live. Situated right next to the entrances of the sprawling network of mine-shafts, here the miners rest from their back-breaking Labor. The quarters are dusty and dirty, and while the people here are strong, they often contract either Aetherblight or black-lung.
None starve, as there is always demand for Labor, but if you are unable to work due to injury or sickness, you will be relegated to begging. Suffice to say, crime is also rampant here.
The Mines: The Mines of Black Hallows have been in operation since before The Temors. They descend for miles under the mountains and earth and every day hundreds of miners descend into the cold darkness of these shafts to extract coal, iron, precious gems and much, much more from the unyielding rock.
Old tunnels are abandoned and collapse, new tunnels are dug and intersect with cave systems, the city's basements and sewers and monstrous dens, all while shifts in the soil cause some paths to close and others to open. The underground of Black hallows is a sprawling mess of collapsing tunnels infested with monsters and as a result the miners stick to their assigned areas.
The Emerald Dragon Bank: This Bank holds within its vault a massive amount of wealth from various nobles around the county. Its security is legendary, but if one were to get access to its depths, one would get very, VERY wealthy. As a result, there is a constant shadow-war occurring around the bank, with eyes on every security measure trying to find flaws and gaps, break-in attempts, and even the bank themselves hiring mercenaries to try and break in to further shore up their defenses.
The Sun Knights Chapterhouse: Black hallows houses the Chapterhouse of the Sun Knights, an ancient and powerful knightly order. They hold yearly games to select worthy aspirants and many youths in the city hope to join their ranks. The associated festival always draws people from across the county.
The Dragon's market: This market is located on a large stone plaza, surrounding a strange stone altar. This altar is to give offerings to the fire dragon Siriothrax, who has claimed the city of Black hallows as part of its domain and demands tithes from it. When he wakes, he descends upon the plaza to collect his tribute, and it better be ready or the city will suffer his wrath, as has happened before. Superstitious people place small trinkets or coins on the altar, but taking anything is forbidden.
