Yokai
Yokai are mysterious beings that have likely inspired many Japanese myths. They possess varied physical appearances but always exude a terrifying aura and exhibit ghost-like abilities. However, these powers are not mystical but rather an expression of their potent psionic talent.
Yokai possess the Arcane Background (Psionics) with abilities such as Intangibility, Fear, and one additional Power, allowing them to manipulate the physical world and instill fear in those around them. They have Psionics and Spirit attributes at d6, reflecting their mastery over their psychic abilities.
Despite their potentially intimidating appearance, Yokai often have weird proportions, making them stand out from ordinary beings. This, coupled with their frightening aura, can make social interactions challenging, as they suffer a penalty to persuasion and support rolls with non-Yokai individuals.
However, Yokai are bound by a code of conduct that prohibits them from threatening or bothering people in sacred locations, reflecting their respect for the faithful and the spiritual significance of such places.
In the underground society of Big Apple Sewer Samurai, Yokai navigate their unique abilities and societal norms, often operating on the fringes and harnessing their psionic talents to navigate the challenges they face. Despite their terrifying reputation, some Yokai may seek understanding and acceptance, striving to coexist with other inhabitants of the city.
