The Dreaming Plague
A rare disease that affects the sleep and dreams of those afflicted.
Transmission & Vectors
The Dreaming Plague doesnt seem to be transmissable from one person to another.
Causes
The cause is unknown and seemingly random
Symptoms
The first symptom is the appearance of a specific person in one's dream, the appearance of this person is consistent among patients though the description has yet to match anyone in the waking world. When this person appears in a patient's dream the patient cannot be awoken by any means and they will sleep for an unusually long time, anywhere from a full day to years. Each time this person appears in a patient's dream the length of the patient's afflicted sleep will be longer.
Those trapped in their cursed sleep all dream together sharing a single dream world.
It is fortunate that those locked in sleep from the Dreaming Plague mysteriously don't need to consume food or drink and seem to not age during their cursed sleep.
Treatment
There are no known treatments yet.
Prognosis
Most people afflicted only experience symptoms once or twice throughout their life and most only sleep for a few days a few might sleep for weeks or months at a time, but there are a rare few who might have repeated symptoms and some have slept for years at a time.
Sequela
No matter how long one is trapped in sleep they always awaken as if they had a normal night of sleep, though they report that their dreams lasted as long as their sleep.
Prevention
There is no known prevention, just the hope that you never contract it.
