Silentia (sill-ent-E-uh)

After the purge of the arts in Hagsfield, many mages who survived found safety in the land that would become Silentia. Magic has thrived here and new discoveries had been made every day until the light engulfed the land. Now magic here is incredibly unstable and even more unpredictable.

Government

Though the three houses have great influence, the kingdom itself is run by a Meritocracy. Whenever the kingdom's last ruler dies, volunteers for the position travel to Dumhallow to take several tests covering topics suck as politics, magic, combat, science, history, etc. Whoever scored the highest on the test becomes the next ruler. The ruler commands several cabinets of government that overlook different topics.

Test of Knowledge and Skill (T.K.S.)

The test for Silentia's ruler is only allowed for those who've lived in Silentia for at least 10 years, those who are between the ages of 25 and 50, those who are not entwined to an Archmage's House, those who have not committed a crime in Silentia or major crime in Great Eethill, and those who have no experience with dark magics.

Cabinets

There are six cabinets, three of which are completely controlled by Silentia's ruler. Cabinets under complete control: Military and Defense, Agriculture, and Justice. The cabinets not under control are the Three Houses who act independently with the uncommon but not rare permission needed to do certain actions by the ruler.   Military and Defense. The military and defense cabinet is in charge of who enlists in the military/local law enforcement, military strategy, military weaponry, and when and where to create combat.   Agriculture. The agriculture cabinet is in charge of food upkeep and farm placement.   Justice. The justice cabinet is in charge of law creation/modification/removal, crime and punishment, and electing of judges/ways to settle on a guilty/innocent verdict.   Houses. The Three Houses have almost complete control over their territory unless it has something to do with the other three cabinets.

Laws

Magic is incredibly important to Silentia and when using it for evil or for a chaotic agenda is completely unforgivable. When magic is used to commit crimes the punishment is either exile for lesser crimes or execution for major (immediate or public executions are dependent on the strength of the criminal). The use of black or forbidden magic is also a great crime, punishment is the permanent disconnect to magic, such as cutting off limbs and or tongues so that they cannot use sematic or verbal components.

History

Creation

During the Purge of Mages in Hagsfield, many mages who were using magic to try and improve the nations were also targeted for execution. With little knowledge of magic, the Mage Slayers had a difficult time holding magic users and would commonly lose them. These escapees had gathered and began an escape through the bordering forest, by the time the Mage Slayers caught wind of this escape chose not to do anything as the forest would probably kill them for the Slayers. Though many were lost, the escapees made it out of Hagsfield and into a new land, one they named Silentia.

Three Archmages

Three mages made it to the coast and constructed a mighty tower by the river and named it: Dumhallow. The mages' names were Albus Rowland, Dolf Poecre, and Gwen Chiemm. Once the land grew into a kingdom, the three formed houses and split up the land among them; Poecre claiming the forests to the north, Rowland the hills east of the land, and Chiemm the lake and southern coast.   House Poecre. The northern forests are ruled by House Poecre; a family of Druids that maintain the land and worship not gods but animals.   House Rowland. The eastern hills make a comfortable home for the Rowlands; half-elves that practice wizardry, famously known as the descendants of the member of the Round Table: Sir Rowland the Fierce.   House Chiemm. The coasts and waters of the south are settled by House Chiemm; sorcerers whose gift of magic became bloody.

The Colorless

Raven Coast, the original location of Tower Chiemm, had many complaints from its occupants; some of which were a string of murders of men, women, and children, all brutally twisted and drained of blood. The strange appearances of the bodies were so strange that House Chiemm summoned the assistance of House Rowland. But before they could ever get there they discovered the land completely colorless and devoid of magic. The southern coast was abandoned and the Tower of Chiemm was rebuilt near the lake. The cause of the strange void of color is still and most likely will be forever a mystery.
