Rowthorn (row-thorn)

On the northeastern coast of the continent of Siljae is a providence called Rowthorn, formerly the Fields of Fey. The hills of this area are infested with trolls and giants alike which commonly raid the settlements for their supplies, which caused groups of giant hunters and mercenaries to flock to this area to defeat these raiders. The once territorial elves that first claimed home here are now open to the presence of non-elves after decades of war and spite with them.

Geography

This providence consists mostly of hills and fields with some forest spreading in from the nearby woods. The Fairy Falls River travels down into the providence circling Spire Rock (a piece of land with a towering stone in its center) and then splits in two. The longest of the splits cuts through a chain of hills known as the humped snake, the largest of the hills (Snake Head) is the section cut off and the largest hill of the chain.

History

0 A.G. - 3 A.G.: The Fields of Fey

The age of slumber has ended and the Elves of Fey Forest have awoken to find their old home stolen by beasts and giants. A daring escape led them to a land of fields with streaks of hills. Here the elves settled under the Humped Snake.

23 A.G. - 31 A.G.: The Settlers of Siljae

A group of settlers travels down to the Fields of Fey to begin a new kingdom. They met with resistance from the elves and were not allowed to create or expand any political territory, but they were allowed to create a single settlement in the land which they may govern as they wish.

56 A.G. - 59 A.G.: The War of Knights and Fey

Though the settler's city was created to break their connections with the neighboring kingdom of Brynkin, which had at the time found a literal gold mine. The landlocked kingdom wanted to trade their gold with other continents but needed to reach the coast by the Fields of Fey. They forced the settler's city into joining their reign and help create a new settlement by the sea. The elves allowed them to build but one city, however, and so a war was fought, the elves did everything in their power to stop their approach toward the sea. Numbers on both sides had heavily dropped and the elves were the first to want peace. They had agreed no city was to be built on the coast and only docks may be placed there.

107 A.G. - 117 A.G.: Strange Settlers

Seven years after the Fall of Fate, strange settlers came on a single ship named Arther's Breath that arrived on the docks built on the Field's coast. They traveled through the Humped Snake and came to the elves. They requested to build a settlement not far from theirs, just under where the river splits. The elves were hesitant at first, they thought plenty of settlers had already polluted the land, but through much convincing by the two leaders of this group (both of which have gone un-named) they were given permission. In the next decade, this group of strange settlers established a trade route between the town of the second settlers and the town of the elves, they even convinced them to create a settlement by the docks to better trade and to send exports to the Requian Coast instead of Silentia. Both original settlements were thankful for the development of peace in the fields and allowed this new settlement to be the new capital of the fields and name the providence, they chose Rowthorn.

Settlements

Wilpbue, the Elven Farms

In the first settlement of the fields, the elves who've come here had recently allowed non-elves to live amongst them. The land the town sits on is dry and unwelcoming to farming. The elves had their circle of druids to make the ground hospitable to them and began to farm. Farmland now surrounds Wilpbue where they make the finest pastries and raise the healthiest animals.

Kingstown, the Second Settlement

As the title suggests, this town belongs to the second settlers of the fields, the humans who first asked the elve's permission to live in their land. They first tried to base their economy on pelts harvested from the dire wolves that lived in the nearby forest, but ever since their town was claimed by the Kingdom of Brynkin, the town has been a major merchant's stop on their way to the docks and back, even more so now that they're trading with the elves.

Virdell, the Growold City

Titled by the elves after an incredibly swift-growing moss, the city was founded by the third settlers of the fields. They built the city in a matter of weeks and brought many changes to the fields in a short amount of time. The walled city's greatest feature is the magnificent library of books and scrolls the settlers brought with them from Novus.

Madelin Village, the Symbol of Peace

The village placed by the docks was built not only to help manage the trade docks but to also be a symbol of peace between the elves and the non-elves of the fields, this is why the village was named after the Goddess of Peace Madelin, the Merciful.
