Requian Navy

The Requian Navy is the military force created to combat the pirates during the Golden Age of Piracy. When the coast had entered a time of peace they stationed in the Empire's cities to act as their guards. They were later remilitarized during the War of Eethill and continued to stay so for the angelic invasion, the second Kraken attack, and the Syndicate War.  

Techniques & Strategy

The Navy commonly sails boats packed with soldiers, a captain, three officers, a chef, a pilot, and a mage, each (of course) having their own role aboard. Trained to fight against pirates, they learned not to use tactics that would damage or sink the enemy vessel for the sake of the stolen treasure within them. Instead, the Requian Navy utilizes boarding techniques such as a Corvus or rope swinging for lightly armored forces.  

Ranks & Hierachy

Other than the common crew member or recruit, there are three significant ranks in the Requian Navy: officer, captain, and fleet commander. Officers are given specific tasks on ships that they must ensure success, whether by them or the crew under them (such as firing or maintaining canons). Captains are the primary decision-makers on board, commanding both the officers and the crew, the responsibility for their lives rest on the captain's shoulders. Finally, fleet commanders stay on land and give missions to captains and their crews, every ship being divided and given to each fleet commander.  

Equipment & Spells

It is common practice for soldiers to wear light armor in case of capsizing, however, some elite ships are given special medium and heavy armor sets that are enchanted to be easily removed in an emergency. Wizards on board tend to carry utility spells to help push the wind into the sails or magically repair damage to the vessel, some are also given emergency supplies in the form of fireball spells. Typically, the destruction of a ship is frowned upon, but there may be an occasion where it's the destruction of the enemy's vessel or your own. Finally, the most famous of Navy equipment is the Requian Wavebalde, a long sword with rounded bumps on its edges designed to cause violent vibrations in another weapon clashing into it, causing the attacker to drop the said weapon.
