Here it begins, the story of all things. I have been one among many who have attempted to articulate the history of the world, and like others I have found more in what is MISSING from the world here than what actually exists. Shall I be expected to remember every breath of every creature in every moment? I have considered it and sought the greatest number of creatures, divine or otherwise, whom I might find to converse. I should sit them upon a stone and beg that they tell me everything about themselves, start to finish, so that I might create an entry for them in my great book. Whereas some were forthcoming, others were mum, and even for those who gave little I could barely contain their stories beneath a single heading. Each companion or location that one mentions demands another entry of equal attention. This is a rude awakening to any prospective historian upon the interconnectivity of life- that to withdraw one element from the whole drags the whole along with it! Indeed, the incalculable majesty of creation is impossible to comprehend from one end to the other, and one only realizes the immensity when attempting to force it into the metaphorical bottle.
For this I therefore long ago abandoned the impossible task of listing every important individual and happening in Vussalas and Esha. Instead, I have written everything down into five codexes alone- one for every major sweep of history. It begins here with the First Feud era that ignited the great strife of my siblings and father, continues into the ceasefire between them into which most olundi history falls, and culminates in what I believe now to be the end of times when that strife was reborn. In this manner all history is but the two cliffs and their valley in between. I have endeavored to record a few additional elements of speculation and accounting thereafter, but that cannot be taken with the same authority as the moments through which I have lived.
Here below I shall give basic summation of the book’s contents for one’s quick understanding, though with the understanding that this amounts to nothing beside reading the whole work.
1ly, Creation began with the victory of Acolitus over his unnumbered, unnamed siblings in the infinite void of chaotic emotions and life-giving energy. This among the learned we name Adomeythu. He devoured them all in a dream-spattered stupor, and thus the making of the world has been defined by the destruction of one sibling by the others. Now alone, he felt the crushing silence and bottomless darkness of his condition. All of them who had before lived were inside himself and once brought in desired to break out again. He hated it, and therefore he endeavored to manifest his power as the antithesis of darkness- light, and thus became the first Artist who married power and vision to create beauty. These were known as the Eshor and they illuminated the darkness with patterns and sculptures of brightness.
2ly, Time passed and the Eshor began to crack and fissure. Acolitus was terrified but curious and allowed them to move on their own, and from these Eshor burst forth the first generation of the Eshan- the Alor’eshan, most famous to history. Many more were born thereafter until the whole of Vussalas was populated by these strange creatues. Perhaps most strange was that they ALL possessed their own dreams and reason separate from Acolitus, and thus they made love and hatred among themselves. It grew from small beginnings into a great conflagration that consumed Vussalas and forced Acolitus to exert his authority to keep his children in harmony.
3ly, He created the world, Esha, for them, made from hardened Eshara into physical forms. The Eshan descended upon it and created for themselves many beautiful things- the trees and waters and mountains, along with the animals as well. All was harmonious here until one among them, Qazun, created beings with their OWN emotions and reason, separate from Acolitus and the Eshan. Acolitus bid that they do not create such things until the Eshan themselves were more temperate, but Aebaster and Mesian among others resisted him. This was the beginning of the First Feud in which many of us died.
4ly, The fighting consumed the world and destroyed its flowering nature. Esha’s lands were shattered and sunk into the sea. It did not end until Acolitus was betrayed by Atun and his form in Esha broken. The Eshan were brought to negotiation and thus the Eshanic Mandates were formed to regulate the interactions between Eshan and Esha. Esha was broken in half between Qadal and Voryndal. The few and fortunate Alor’eshan were given Qadal to govern, according to their own wishes. The remaining Ebal’eshan were in all their multitude given Voryndal to govern. Here olundi were allowed to arise on their own and create history. This we name the Time of Separation.
