Voletal Successors of Etunas
The revolt of Corgastor, started in the year -7, was the undoing of the vast and powerful domain of Étunas. In the early stages, it was a guerilla war fought north of the Aedúcarr corridors and west of the Lornesse. It was a back and forth affair of extraordinarily violent raids and small sieges punctuated by irregular open battles. The Etûletal held the advantage in this type of war, as their soldiers were well trained and resilient. Under the command of skilled generals, the forces of Étunas were able to slowly drive the forces of Corgastor north, until the Balendorn Mountains were looming on the horizon. In that dark hour, Corgastor made a move that was entirely unexpected. He and his allies travelled eastward to Nathrovas, leaving the army under the command of Aragos. They parleyed with Nassarus Nathroghal, son of Prince Il’tir, and grandson of Iolas Nathroghal the Elder. Corgastor explained that the rule of Atûsbal and Council was a burdern on both their peoples, not just Aemarda. Arbitrary rule, pretensions of racial superiority, and an apparent disregard for the well being of those outside Etal were the motivators behind the revolt of Nassarus’ grandfather and had never changed. If they allied, Corgastor continued, then it would be possible to break the iron rule of Étunas and improve the lives of olûndi outside of Etal. Against every judgement, he accepted.
The betrayal of Nassarus Nathroghal in -4 was the turning point of the conflict. Suddently, the entire region of eastern Everos turned against Étunas. Pressure was relieved from Corgastor’s army, saving it from destruction, and thousands of Voletal troops joined in resistance. It is important to note that Nassarus had no intentions of breaking from Étunas, but only weaken its iron grip outside the homeland. This united force spent the next four years driving back the Etûletal, battle after battle, inflicting heavy losses on both sides. The longer the conflict lasted, the greater was the need for Atûsbal Taeyoril to draw in troops from other principalities. Thousands of troops were pulled from Othos, Nevan, the Gismyr islands, Semyr islands, and other localities to support the war in Everos. This had a destabilizing effect on those far-flung territories. Local resistance grew as the power of Étunas waned- the more troops were drawn for Corgastor’s war, the more conflicts started elsewhere.
Zorisghal
Etayen history warped into hideous darkness when Atûn withered to death. Within a brief span of cataclysmic months, the global power of Étunas withdrew toward the homeland, leaving the embattled frontiers exposed to invasion.
The aging and vulnerable nation of Zorisghal was destroyed and partitioned among the Aemar tribes of Othos in 223.
Nathroghal
The massacre of Etayen refugees in Sedar marked the final atrocity and end of the Velgasid Etag. As the year zero, hitherto unknown in significance, passed in black shadow, the final vestiges of Etayen power waned. Atûn was weakened from the expenditure of Eshara in bolstering his children against the sudden empowerment of Corgastor, and the army of Étunas was routed. At the helm of this devastation stood Nathroghal Nassarus Casbarûn, who avenged the defeat of his father and vindicated his rebellion in victory. He watched as the allied Voletal and Aemar warriors destroyed the world Etayen settlers built over vast centuries.
Nathroghal survived as a coherent domain until the death of Akridaron Casbarûn in 1742.
Jequasghal
Southern Everos was left in utter ruin after the destruction of Étunas. Aemar raiders made common practice of scouring the remnants and slaughtering the helpless survivors.
The realm of Jequa remained powerful and independent until 2304. It was in those ruinous times that southern Everos was destabilized by the Great Conflict and rendered vulnerable to invaders. The boldest among them were Grathon in origin and captured ancient Drakar for themselves while the Etayen reeled from Nathrovas’ sudden demise.
Amasghal
While the foundations of Etayen civilization withered to dust in Everos and Othos, the distant realm of Nevan remained largely unchanged. The Velgasid Etag never touched upon its borders, nor was local government bound tightly to Amikiras.
As the Axodraharik realm swept across Loseya and the Neyasi islands, the reigning conquerors came into competition with the ancient Etayen settlers. In 1532, Amasghal was annexed into Yor’shagon after a brief period of territorial conflict.
Afrasghal
Among all the realms of the Etayen dispersed following the collapse of Étunas, Afrasghal remained a steadfast bulwark of ancient prosperity. It was that domain settled on the islands of the Semyr, thus within simple travel of the homeland. From those ports, materials and individuals travelled freely, making it the sole touchstone between forbidden Etal and the wider world.
