The Creation of History

The unprecedented prosperity and stability of the Imperial era allowed thinkers across Qadal to organize the previous millenia of history. This was done without any single initiator, but was the product of an eager, romantic generation which wished to understand the dark epochs passed.

Perhaps the single most important development of this Imperial era historical birth was the calendar centered on Atûn’s death and Etunas’ collapse. Previous calendars had been highly decentralized, with some beginning at an arbitrary ancient date named the beginning of time. Others started with the creation of Karthuul and Euboa.

Indeed, the best recognized ancient calendar was devised by well-respected thinkers in Etal, and it began with their peoples’ departure from Etal into wider Qadal. Those years prior to that date are known as the years of Eshanic Peace or Silent Innocence. It was a time of pre-history wherein the years melded together with one another in blissful ignorance. Once they had crossed the waters into Qadal proper the bleary sleep in their naïve eyes was washed away. The enormity of the world was opened to them, and now there suddenly required a means to record and transmit information which everyone did NOT know, which was never the case in Etal.

The modern calender was created by the Corgastodmar, who were supreme during the Imperial era. It was commissioned under Ghetunbast Eleytha in the middle 2300s as a means to standardize historical knowledge in her domain. As noted, it began with the collapse of Etunas, which was the inaugural date of Aemardic ascension in Everos.
