Dream of Luros, Lurollusia, and the Wisdom of Kolura

All Eshan dream, just as olundi. At times, these dreams produce strange reckonings which lead to strange conclusions. This was the account of Luros. He numbered among the Alor’eshan, and was infinitely interested in Kolura. During the Feuding Era, he dreamed a dream wherein the Eshors’ immense fire sang various unknown truths. Among them was that each Eshor had special meaning which was misunderstood by even Acolitus regarding the fates which they foretold from the deepst depths of the Creator’s sub-concious. Luros awoke and began articulating such ideas. This took him centuries, wherein he inspected each of his Eshanic siblings and derived from them the eight Eshanic wisdoms which are present within all creation. He then applied these findings to grant each Eshan an Eshor of Kolura.

Luros asserted that Kolura, being the eight Eshor first created by Acolitus during Olûn, possessed greater meaning than originally implied. He theorized that each Eshor represented some characteristic of the Eshan, and thus their eventual fate. Acolitus possessed all eight as creator, and thus all eight Eshor were manifested. However, the Eshan themselves are limited to one Eshor apiece, being themselves, and thus limited to certain domains. Luros endeavored to understand these eight characteristics and to which each of his siblings was related. He named them and listed them for all to see.

“One might note how the eight Eshor of Kolura are arrayed circular upon Acolitus’ banners. This is reflective of their positions in Vussalas, and thus for my work. I shall divorce the traditional names of these Eshor so granted by Acolitus, for they are irrelevant to my work.   Atop is the Eshor of Intervention, saved for those most interested in the affairs of others;   High upper right is the Eshor of compassion, for those with greater love than suspicious;   Right is the Eshor of fraternity, for those interested in the works of others;   Low right Eshor is faith, for those with greater heart than doubt;   Bottom Eshor is restraint, for those who take question before action;   Low left is Eshor of cunning, with greater suspicious than love;   Left is Eshor of opportunity, for those interested in profiting from others;   High left is Eshor of clarity, for those with greater doubt than heart.   All such distinctions are measures of personality, in a sense, but more importantly a promise of events to befall them. It is the nature of their most decisive and final acts. One might escape such a branding in the short time, but it is the infinite illumination of Kolura which deems it all truth.”
  - The Invention of Lurollusia Studies of Luros – Feuding Era
The young, inquisitive Eshan were more than interested in Luros’ findings. Each among them adopted their given Eshanic sign, mulling over its implications and possibilities as a child does a new toy. Luros granted himself the Eshor of compassion, for he believed his work to be the ultimate display of love toward his siblings. They wore these titles with pride, categorizing themselves in social groups thusly or jesting on the various relationships between signs. Luros was proud of his success. The only being in opposition was Acolitus himself. His children placing meaning upon his constructions undermined his authority, but the eight wisdoms were too popular to readily silence.

In later years, when the Eshan were hardened in mind and heart, the findings of Lurollusia came under scrutiny. The concept of fate, or Lurollusia as it came to be known, was thoroughly disproven through logical reasoning. Indeed, if all existence was within the living fabric of Acolitus, everything existed upon the same plane of time. Traveling to the past is impossible because time is attached to a living entity, and thus no longer existent in any plane. The future is the same, for nothing might exist until it occurs within the living fabric of Acolitus. Knowing the future is therefore impossible. Fate is thus impossible. Lurollusia is therefore impossible, since Luros could never have known nor dreamed the fates of the other Eshan. Adhering to such superstitious philosophies is a sign of ignorance. All the same, many Eshan maintained their Eshanic wisdoms as a means to honor the past.

Olundi learned of Luros’ prophecies and fates many millenia after that Eshan’s own death. The first were the Etayen, for they were foremost in Eshanic lore. It became custom among them to adopt the Eshanic wisdoms and apply it unto their own banners and dynastic arms. In time, the tradition became better entrenched among the Etayen than the Eshan themselves, so that new generations of olundi believed it to be Etayen in origin. Just as Acolitus was the concerned party once the Eshan adopted the system, the Eshan became the concerned party once olundi adopted the system. It became a matter of great pretense for olundi to adopt these signs, disdained by most Eshan. Atûn was different, for he enjoyed his people’s interest in Eshanic lore.

In the same manner as the Eshan, the olundi became jaded with time. The mystical promises of Lurollusia became desparate references to a better time now gone. Only those with great love of the Eshan or great love of tradition maintained the use of Luros’ Eshanic wisdoms. The Eshan themselves ceased to care who blazened such icons on their banners or not.
