Dark Age of Philosophy

The proceeding Ascension and Weeping Eras utterly obliterated any intellectual progress attained by the studious Early School Philosophers. Their writings, scant in number to begin, were smashed or burned as entire quarters of Qadal were cast down in chaos. Everywhere the Etayen arm was loose, peace withered away with it, for warlords pined for generations to carve lands for themselves, and possessed no greater identity than they were not Etayen. Indeed, as the old writings were destroyed near nothing new was created (that survived), for the role of philosopher is best executed in moments of peace. Wisdom was replaced with base superstition and observation, creating a patchwork, simplistic worldview which justified a brutish, miserable cycle of birth, growth, then death in war.
